I'm bored, so a question. I recently bought an old Remington portable typewriter (Remington Rand Delux Model 5 like this one here) and I was wondering if anyone else has had this wonderful OPPOtunity. See, now it's car related.

I found an old Underwood No. 5 in someones trash bin from the 20s.
And one that works. Also an underwood.

Nice. I've always wanted a big upright like an Underwood or a Smith/Corona but they tend to be expensive.

There are a couple of old Royals I've really liked - need to actually go antiques shopping so I can go all Hemmingway to write shit.

I have an old glass keyed royal my dad gave me for christmas one year, and an IBM Selectric. There are people that can drink beer legally that have never typed on a real typewriter. Sad

They really do improve your writing. You have to really consider what you're putting on the paper, and more than that, you have to mean it.

I learned to type initially on what if memory serves was a manual Smith-Corona from the 50s or 60s.

I still have in one drawer of my desk, an actually new Olivetti Lettera 22 portable typing machine... the machine of the war reporters, that I bough almost 20 years ago on my first year of work here. I used it to write my few official letters, and I think that I just worn a pair of tapes, before leaving it for my first laptop: a Toshiba with Windows 98! I see that on eBay it goes for $50, so it's not worth the hassle of offering it for sale. It will be a part of my heritage, together with my VHS tape player, my collection of porn tapes with Ron Jeremy and Ginger Lynn and my Nikon FE reflex with the Nikkor 50/1.4. How fast technology gets old, never ceases to amaze me.

That connection was made upon the thinnest of ribbons.

What can I say, I'm too keyed up to think straight.
I'm sorry.

...A hungry lion was roaming through the jungle looking for something to eat when he came across two men; one was sitting under a tree reading a book while the other was typing away on his typewriter. The lion quickly pounced on the man reading the book and devoured him proving even the king of the jungle knows that readers digest and writers cramp.
